Sarah Whittington

Advocacy Director

Sarah Whittington is JAC’s full-time staff attorney focused on reducing the collateral consequences of criminal records and assisting clients re-entering our communities from incarceration.

Sarah works with various reentry partners in the New Orleans area to remove barriers and overcome obstacles for reentry individuals through systemic advocacy and legal representation. She represents clients in resolving traffic matters, obtaining driver's licenses, and expunging criminal records. She also oversees volunteer attorneys at JAC expungement events.

Prior to joining JAC, Sarah worked as a staff attorney with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services. There, she represented clients in unemployment and wage claim matters, provided expungement services, and conducted outreach to youth impacted by the criminal system.

Originally from Media, Pennsylvania, Sarah is a 2015 graduate of Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law. Prior to law school, Sarah taught 4th and 8th grade English/Language Arts and Reading in East Feliciana Parish. She received her B.A. in History from Connecticut College in 2006.
